What's the best top 5 paint brand?
I am getting ready to paint my EG but i am just curiuos what the best paint brand out there?..cause i only know PPG and Dupont..any other brands?
Hot rod flatz i have seen in person and it looks awesome. Also been featured in some magazines. The car i seen was flat metallic green. But you can also get it in gloss. You can buy it on their ebay store for $135 shipped for a gallon plus the catalyst/reducers. Or you can call them too.
BASF, Spies Hecker/ Standox, Sikkens. I'm familiar with a few different paint systems and I like the BASF RM Diamont and line the best. BASF also has the Glasurit and Carrizma (custom style) paint lines.
my shop just switched paint systems and we had tried a few "top" systems Diamont, ICI, glasurit ,global(ppg), sikkens(akzo/Nobel), ENVIRObase(ppg)....ect... and well as far a quality and color match and best looking clears...
1.Sikkens was the best...great color match great coverage.. there auto clear III is very shinny and buffs very well
2.Diamont OK color match nice clears
3.Glasurit great clears $$$$$$$ expensive
4.Enviro base this is water based and needs special equipment (dehumidifier and lots of air movement)
all the rest just dont cut it in my world....
stay away from martin sr., omni Sherwin Williams...the cheaper stuff dose not have the vibrancy or the coverage. what my take you two coats with Sikkens will take you 5 or 6 with these cheap brands....
hope this helps pm me with further questions....

we use glasurit at my bodyshop..now we just started using waterbased glasurit paint.. there will be a law by 2010 in cali all bodyshops must use waterbased paint...since my shop chose to use this now and learn it now...by the time it becomes the law, well be ahead of the game
..euroupes been using for maore than 10 years...its harder to paint then regular solvants since 80% of the base coat is WATER 20 % solvant.....the clear coat is still the same though. whole reason for this is because its less contaminant to the air. i can care less...the rest of the world dont got smog laws
...all the new rolls royces and bentleys are painted with waterbased GLASURIT paint at the factory. so imo glasurit is the best paint...
but for custom paint jobs id go with house of kolor paints

Honestly all the people I work with that have used waterborne have loved it. Sprays way better than Solvent-borne. We just dont get to play with AWX yet here in WA quite yet.....

What??????? any waterbase is the **** maybe you're not using a waterbase gun or there waterbase drying system.Spies Hecker believe it or not is what they're using at the Ferrari, and Lamborghini manufactures. But my line would go like Glasurit(waterbase),Basf Diamont,Dupont,ppg....................And that is pretty much it.

I see a lot of people throwing out brand names and paint line names as well.....
I.E. Dupont has multiple paint lines, same with PPG and BASF. Spies Hecker? That's a dupont brand, same with Standox... Diamont and Glasurit are both BASF....
Now if you wanted to talk primers or clears these brands could show a totally different level in peoples minds....

I know man but technically Glasurit is there own line.Reason they've signed up with Basf was so that they can get there paint to the states(United states). And Dupont has there different lines like Hot hues(custom colors),Chromabase/chromapremier.Same follows for PPG (omni) and so on.I do my RESEARCH.

Technically you're correct.Stuff gets exspensive but once you have the drying systems and the guns.Stuff works wonders Waterbase I think will take over by 2009.

everyone is changing dude
everyone is changing dude
i would say dupont chroma/priemier is the best i have used, cause i have never used anything else. But they offer lifetime warranties if sprayed by a dupont certified painter. i use there stuff on everything and have never had a serious problem.
But to say everyone is changing to waterbase if false, the main change will come to big cities who are pushing the shops to change. Which is not a bad thing at all. i am just saying the most shops outside of Cali are still normal

one question: do you like 8180?
one question: do you like 8180?
don't go by the company, ask which line.
ppg omni is alot shittier than ppg dbc.
most of the top of the line paint by most major companies are great, sooner or later it's more of what you shoot best than a brand thing.
i shoot ppg dbc and chromabase all the time, not that i don't want to shoot better stuff but people are just cheap
