Brakes, Heads, Bars, Questions
Oh, now I have more questions about/for my 1988 CRX DX.
1. In doing a swap to the 90-93 Integra disk brakes, why do I need the whole trailing arm? Can't I just use the rear hubs with the lines, calipers, and brackets? (I'll be slowly upgrading the brakes, starting with the rear. I'm noticing the brakes get harder the hotter they get, so I know the fronts need upgrading soon, too. I will be Time Attacking and autocrossing this car) If there is no need to swap the trailing arms and other than making it easier, what other advantages are there in using the Integra trailing arms?
2. What front brake parts from other Hondas will benefit me more?
3. What other rear sway bars work with my CRX that I can use from other Hondas?
4. I've got a D16Y8 head that I want to put on, this should be like any other Mini-Me VTEC swap, correct? I also plan on using the Megasquirt II for the ECU.
Thanks, guys.

1. You will die trying to take those hubs off. It can be done, but it cost me more in tools than the trailing arm would have cost when I did this on a '89 I had many years ago. There are actually some disadvantages at least they are IMO, my '88 Si has DA arms and to run a 38mm offset wheel the fender lip is rolled very tight.
But that aside you will thank us later if you just put the trailing arm on. It can quite literally be done in less than 30 mins per side. If swapping the whole trailing arm was not the best way to go someone woud have told you as such before now.
2. This is a question that has tons of answers. If you are on a budget the 10.x" brake upgrade is bolt on. Personally I have the 11.x" Brakes. Look in the FAQ for the articles covering this.
3. I can't help you here, maybe someone else will chime in. I do know that some guys don't run one at all and do quite well. If I were guessing I'd say look at a DA Integra or Del Sol, but the rate is likely to be wrong for a CRX.
4 Yes that constitutes a Mini Me. I have not done this but I'm intrigued enough by it to do so I hope to try it in the future. Some say a B swap is only a few bills more
however for me it's keeping the drivetrain as close to stock as possible. At least keepin it so it can go back with little hassle. Megasquirt is good stuff. However it's not necessary. There are plenty of quality add on vtec activation switches out there that do the job quite well.

I'm not really worried about tools as I work at a Toyota Dealership for a full time job, but I won't have them with me when I go out and get these parts. 90-93 Integras are kind of hard to come by around here, so, other than the DA's, what other more plentiful Hondas/Acuras can I use?
I'll probably start with the 10.XX" upgrade, then.
Guess I'll have to test and see what each bar will do, then.
I've already got the head (the guy gave it to me for $50, garage cleaning), just need the rest of the parts. I want the Megasquirt II for the sake of being able to mess around with fuel and ignition maps on the cheap. Just wish it could do one injector at a time instead of two at a time. They are working on a sequencer, from what I've read.

Well, my main problem is that CRXs are hard to come by around here in my local yards. I'm trying to find other Honda/Acuras that can be used and can be found.
All DC tegras have rear disc and the 00 Civic Si's.
I don't know how they are for fitment.
There are some Del Sols, I can't remember if Si only or if other trim levels have them. EG Si's have rear disc.
I would imagine if DA's where hard to come by most of these others will be to.
I seriously doubt you'll get the hub off in a salvage yard, but I've been wrong before.
When you go to the yard, you problaby only need some side cutters, a 12, 14, 17 wrenches and sockets. The arms I swapped hubs on used like a t40 torx and I borke that on the first bolt. These weren't even rusty norther arms. If you are up north worse yet.
Do what you want, my point is that personally I'd probably buy new from Honda before I'd do the swap you are speaking of.
Here is an alternative to you delima too. Then you can source the rest of the part from the parts store.
