Speedo not working, replaced VSS plug already
So my 95 GSR the speedo started to randomly stop working last month or so, but sometimes it would cut back on after a couple minutes. At the same time, I changed my thermostat, after that, my speedo died and never came back on. Im thinking the coolant from the thermostat change completely did in the VSS connector, so I tried cleaning it with terminal cleaner spray, no luck. Swapped out with a new (used) VSS plug today, the odometer works now but still no speedo. WHen i stripped the wires to solder on the new plug, i noticed the wiring seemed a bit corroded. Could it be the wires just corroded all the way thru? or should i just change out the VSS sensor?
Thanks
Thanks
my cruise control also still doesnt work, i read that if cruise doesnt work its the vss. or does the cluster have something to do with cruise also?
also, by your theory, it means i coincidentally had a problem with both vss and cluster?

car is turbo so i cant really tell if vtec is working? dont know if thats stupid or not..
anyways, problem fixed. i took off the 2 10mm bolts and removed the top portion of the vss, when i pulled it off, a cloud of dust/powder/corrosion puffed out. i cleaned off the contacts closer this time as before i only just sprayed some cleaner down on it before it was removed. i also noticed the middle pin was slightly loose, probably gonna break off one day. anyways, speedo seems to be working now so i guess there was just corrosion on the inside of the top portion of the vss.
thanks though
