i believe most sanctioning bodies require the SA rating on the helmets, the rule books always specify what they require -- even last years NHRA and NDRA rule books will point you in the right direction

you can use the M helmets on standard test and tune nights and autocross type events

i would spend the extra money to protect my head

Here are last year's rules... I had to do a little research on the subject recently

NHRA Rules (07)
10:7 HELMETS
As outlined under Class Requirements, drivers in all classes must
wear a helmet meeting Snell or SFI Specifications. Snell K98 is
acceptable in place of any Snell M-rated helmet.
SFI Spec 31.1A = Snell SA, open-face helmet
SFI Spec 31.2A = Snell SA, full-face helmet
SFI Spec 41.1A = Snell M, open-face helmet
SFI Spec 41.2A = Snell M, full-face helmet
Drivers of all cars running 13.99 or quicker must use a helmet
meeting Snell K98, 2000, 2005 or SFI Spec 31.1A, 31.2A,
31.1/2005, 41.1A, 41.2A, or 41.1/2005.
Drivers of cars running 7.49 or quicker must use a helmet meeting
Snell SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, or 31.1/2005 Specs.
See Class Requirements.

NOPI 2007 Rules
4.2> Helmets: Drivers of cars 13.99 or quicker must use a helmet that is Snell 95, 2000 SFI 31.1,
31.2, 41.1 or 41.2 specs. Drivers of Pro class cars must use a helmet meeting Snell SA90, SA95
2000 or SFI 31.2 specs. Any helmet that is modified in any way other than paint jobs shall be
deemed unsafe and not suited for competition. Drivers must be wearing their helmet prior to
entering the burnout area. When driving a open bodied vehicle a full faced helmet with face shield
is required. The NDRA requires the use of Full Face Helmets and strongly recommends the use
of the proper visor as well. The NDRA also requires the use of a SFI approved 38.1 head restraint
system by all Pro Racers or cars that run 9.59 or quicker no matter what the class.

at this point im in no position to pay 400-500 for a helmet trying to get other things going on the car for next year. I found a sa2005 helmet for $200, ive been using regular 100$ helmets that motorcycles use that were skimming by in tech and they were just fine for what they do, im not going out cruising with it on my head or something...but now it wont pass at all at a sanctioned event. \

basically i was going to get this for next year and wanted to know if it would be ok, but looking at the 2007 rules i cant see why it wouldnt, its snell M2005
