Actually, if it's the same race i'm thinking of, it was in Houston, it was a Drag War event, i forget if it was 10k or 20k, but Kenny didn't win, Viren from VS Racing won.

The World Import Challenge that was in Houston was supposed to have some large gauranteed payouts but they ended up screwing everyone over and didn't tell you until you got the check. I got $125 instead of $1000 when I won my class, comp 6; it was $100 to enter. If I remember correctly the pro class payouts were 10k and up but they got hosed as well. I think the Bergenholtz can elaborate on that more!

Yeah, the WIC is the one i'm thinking of. Maybe Viren will post about it, i didn't know there was funny business with the payouts.

At the moment its the Pan American Nationals in Atco New Jersey!!!

32 car field and 40,000 + spectators!!!

It is $10k to win, $2,500 to runner up and it is going on its 15th year with that pay out!!!

You get $500.00 if you go out in the first round, $750.00 quarter finals, $1000.00 semi finals.

summit payed 25k for the first 200 mph sport compact. i think matt scranton won that with the V8 celica?
YEARS ago idrc had a race at maple grove and had the B&M challenge. the idea was at the end of the race the winner from the pro and bracket classes would be matched up bracket style for a winner take all purse of $47,000!!! unfortunately the pot was dependant on a certain amount of racers and i think the actual amount was 6 or 12K (cant remember) which a bracket racer from colorado beat fred ellis for.

I am looking for the actual race winning that people took home. Not bonus cash for breaking the 200 mph barrier.

Plain and simple take home cash that actually got paid out.

WIC had pay-per-view, dvd sales, and a Mobil1 event sponsor
Whats really impressive is the Pan Am Nats never have, thats all promoter-fronted money

No, we got half the money because there was not a full field. It had to be an 8 car field for full $15,000 payout.

mobil 1 race in 2000 was the biggest. i thought it got rained out tho, i remember it rained for a week or so and all the freeways were closed, in texas that was crazy. all the sewer manhole covers were missing all over town. never made it back to the makeup race i guess.

the world import challenge drag war event in 2001 that i won was 20k

10k up front another 5k hp-racing and other 5k from espn back when

total of 20k paid leading edge was also the other sponsor for that event i have bounced checks from them though so total only paid was 20k not 25k

back then the payouts for drag wars inc events were pretty damn good when there was full field

imran was running those events out of miami if he still around
