Default Jegs or S&W 8pt. Roll Bar?

I tried to search for both kits and most of the threads are archived. I just want to see if there is any new info out there. Both kits are around the same price ($215.00 shipped) so I want to find the kit that needs the least notching/cutting. I know with any pre-bent weld in kit there will be modifications but I want the least possible.

So people who have used the jegs or S&W weld in kits give me your experiences.

I have the S&W in a EG coupe and my friend that welded it said it was pretty straight forward only issue was the front bars clearing the door with the door panels on but he did it without having to cut into the door panel

thanks for the input, clearing the door panels is a non-issue for me because I won't be using them. Any one have any more experiences?

I know you can't compare the quality of a premade kit to a custom kit but you also can't compare the price. In a perfect world I would go the custom route but in my case this fits my budget.

My friend is welding it in. He has about four years of experience and I am confident he can handle it.

i'm in the same boat, dont have the $ for a custom cage, plus the fact that even if i did, i wouldnt know who to trust where i live. so it leaves me with looking at a jegs or s&w kit.

anybody have any pics of thier pre-made cages in the car? of the guys that maybe have experience with a few brands, which ones did you like better?

I want to order a kit within the next two weeks, so if I don't get anymore info in this forum I might try the welding/fab forum.

I will be sure to do a write up on the cage (which ever brand I decide to go with) and let you guys how it goes.

Well apparently I got it yesterday and didnt even know it....lol

Test fitted it in place, gonna have to bend the door bars, hoping having them at my elbow will pass, I am a big guy and its kind of hard to get in it the way they are now, half way up my arm.

didnt fit the added x bar, would be too difficult w/ tape

doesn't look bad at all its too bad they dont pre-bend the bars for you. is the x-brace more for the look or does it add alot of strength?

I would imagine it would stregnthen the rear, the X Brace is 1 long piece and 2 half size pieces notched on one end, its up to the customer to notch where it meets the bar, and cut where it meets the floor. Total shipping weight w/ the 6x6 1/8" mild steel plates was 25lb..... pretty light.

Like I said before for moly. I still haven't made my mind about which brand to go with but right now I am leaning towards S&W.
