When would it be proper to shift when going all out? Ive got the USDM ITR gauge cluster and redline starts at 8500. My rev limiter is at 8400, but im almost sure i dont have to go that far. When does a stock gsr stop making power. All i have done is intake which probably wont affect anything so when should i shift it. I usually do it at 8k. Is this correct?

 

7900, i do that, instead of hitting the limiter and the car will stall...

For your engine, the optimal shift point is just before the rev limiter engages for maximum acceleration. Yes, the power is decreasing near the rev limiter, but the engine is still producing more power than at 6000 RPM. A dyno plot will illustrate this.
