Marty Ladwig ex Prostar racer
i guess this just shows how much of a youngster i am in this whole go-fast world of ours. I got into the motorcycle drag racing scene about a year ago and just tonight came across an old article about marty and his 2 AMA/Prostar 600 SS titles. 600 super "stock" is a very difficult and competitive motorcycle drag racing class based on factory 600cc bikes for those who might be wondering. I find all this especially interesting as i've been down here in san antonio for the past 5mon living and racing in the same places.
anyway, just thought i'd share a bit of racing "history" with my fellow honda-tech 'ers

Both Original GM sport compact racers were from the bike ranks.
Marty - Hot Rod
Stephanie Reeves (forgive if spelled wrong) - Pro FWD (Didn't last long - until Nelson took)
A good buddy that got me into drag racing used to race against marty in the 600 class. It's now a stock 1000 stock.

Funnny story... A buddy of mine built a lot of his bike motors back in the day we share the same first name. A couple years ago at NOPI in Norwalk we were walking past his pits carrying on a conversation about a previous pass my buddy had made only to hear someone screaming my name. Turn around to see Marty running towards me saying, "Hey Jon hows it going." I was kinda in awe and confused so i reply "Great, and you?" Didnt even know that he was not talking to me till after he took a step past me and was talking to my friend. I felt like an idiot at that moment, it wasnt until afterwards that i found out how my buddy knew him.
But great guy none the less and apperantly my boss knows him pretty well too.

I met Marty originally when he was driving the GM Sunfire. He was friendly guy to talk to at dinner. He always appears professional , polite and collected. The type thing you would want from a sponsored driver. He seemed like ladies man. All sorts of girls at the races would interrupt him and ask about hanging out or chatting. At least that was my perception, Marty can speak for himself. In all he seems like an all around nice guy. He was nice enough to even give me a case of Lucas Oil, just because
He wanted to do the Sport Compact thing to earn enough money to go back to NHRA Pro Stock Bike Racing originally. Guess the money kept him longer than he thought, plus hooking up with Sport Compact models isn't so bad.
