It is splitting hairs because a GSR was never sold in Japan. The equivalent was the SiR.
OP, are you keeping the same OBD? Is there any advantage for the SiR automatic over the LS? I have never seen any gear ratios of the final drive for this transmission. I could see the shift points not being correct for the transmission if the ratios are too different. That does have potential for an automatic LS-VTEC since you have an automatic P72 ECU.

i will keep the same obd. and the advantage to the SiR tranny is that it is a tranny that works as opposed to my gf's beat up ls tranny.
i bought this jdm gsr so that i could swap out the tranny for my gf, and take the motor to build it for my integ... killing two birds with one stone.
i have a manual b16 tranny lying around, for those who commented on manual over auto
but i need to know for sure if the SiR and the LS tranny are identical (or at least compatible with the LS motor). how would i go about finding out? check gear ratios perhaps?
