Default coolant lines under throttle body ?

I was just wondering what they were for ? My buddy told me to bypass them because they didn't do anything except leak and take horsepower away. Any input would be good. thanks.

im not sure on their actual purpose but my friend told me bypass it as well. he said it will cool the air intake down some. do u have a obd1 or obd2? if it obd1 then they are for the fitv (cold start valve) which is what causes the car to idle high when cold. obd2 use the iacv to do the same thing and the fitv is not present on obd2 tb.

on the obd-1, does that hose go from the port under the throttle body all the way to the port on the side of the head with the distributor?

im not 100% sur but as far as i know the hoses on the obd1/2 are ran pretty much the same way. on the obd1 tb they go to the cold start where as on the obd 2 tb they run to two nipples that are made to the tb.

there pretty useless. i eliminated the Fast Idle Valve and ran the lines directly to the IACV. Its just used to warm up the car when you first start it

yeah my car is obd1. Does the car warm up faster when they are actually being used ? I am not using mine and it takes a while to warm the car to operating temperature.

Those lines are to warm the IACV, throttle body, and FITV (if equipped) when the car is cold. Those parts could potentially accumulate frost if conditions are right. Forst would cause the parts to not functions properly. The OP is in southern CA, feel free to bypass them.
