Do type-r cams like more or less overlap? Motor is 11.7 comp and head has aftermarket valvetrain and stock porting.
Im also interested to see how much overlap type-r cams have stock. I also want to know the LSA. Has anyone played with there overlap on a dyno?
When I go to the dyno in the nextmonth or so I dont want to spend to much time adjusting my cams in a way they lose power. The only place I care about making power is from 5800 Rpms up. Im not too concerned about down low. I use this car for drag racing and fun., mainly drag racing. Thanks
Also my friend has a B16 Short ram, JDM 4-1 Header, Exhaust, no cat, Custom tune by nate, and skunk stage 1 cams sitting at 0,0. He has ran a best of 14.50 @ 93.5 with a 2.21 60ft. He shifts at 8500. Do these cams like anyparticular setting? He is also going to the dyno with me to dyno in a few months.
Please no flaming, not looking for the "take it to dyno" responses cause I already know this. We are just looking for a quick setting other than what we have till then.
Thanks

It's not where "the cams like it" it's where the motor likes it. Some engines will like and benefit from more overlap and others won't, it's not an exact science. If you're going to dyno tune your car and set it up for drag racing you're going to have to play with the cam gears to see where your car "likes" the settings. It isn't something that takes a lot of time to do. If you move them one way and loose power, you move them the opposite way and see what happens. You do the same thing with timing adjustments and air fuel adjustments to see what the car wants. No one is made of money, but if you don't have the money to tune it properly, why bother to modify or drag race the car at all? Do it right and do it once or do it twice and pay more in the long run.
