Default Modifying Stock 96-98 Headlights?

Here is my question. i have a 98 DX and i want to make my headlights look like CTR or SIR headlights. i noticed that on turn signal there is a reflector inside the housing right in front of the bulb. is it possible to remove that reflector, if i pull apart the headlight? can i remove both reflectors?

Yup, both reflectors can be removed if you really wanted to. Once you bake open your headlight it's just held on by a couple of screws.

Why modify your stock headlights to look like cheap headlight you could buy on eBay that would at least have clean lenses?

Get the eBay lights and save the stock headlights for when/if you get pulled over for having illegal front turn signals. (Most states require your front turn signals to reflect or illuminate amber.)

you will need white reflectors that go on the bottom, and if tyou decide to remove the orange cover for the turn signal, you will need orange bulbs. but yes its possible to make them look like this, although i like it better to keep reflectors in and paint the housing black.

That is a real waste of a set of clean stock headlights which are hard to find. You're going to modify them into looking like a set of cheap eBay lights. Just buy the eBay lights and either keep the stock ones around or sell them to someone. Brand new Honda USDM headlights for '96-'98 Civics cost close to $430 (list).

Here's a set of exactly what you want, for $55.

As far as I know there is no clear reflector that can replace the orange reflector perfectly. I believe some of the eBay headlights do have the clear reflectors, but I don't know where they came from before that.

I think the OP has made it clear that he wants to be as cheap as possible. I'm trying to tell him that he could sell the stock headlights for more than the headlights he wants.

So if he modifies his stock headlights to look like what he wants, he is effectively losing money.

Why be such a dick? It's Christmas. If anything, you should be in a good mood.

Of course you lose money modifying cars, but by that logic then you might as well buy the more expensive product regardless. He has the chance to get exactly what he wants and save money (plus it'd end up making someone else happy since they get hard to find clean '96-'98 headlights).

Seriously, clean stock '96-'98 headlights are difficult to find and they usually cost used at least $100.

And your reasoning and comprehension will make you a horrible... person.

What exactly was I supposed to be listening to in this text thread?

Anyway, I didn't see the OP disagree with anything I said. All he mentioned was his headlights were clean and that he was going to put amber bulbs in them. He didn't tell me he didn't care, he didn't insult me. That would be you, who didn't even have a part in this thread besides flaming me.

I tried to give him other options.

No problem.

I have had friend in Europe that actually really like the USDM headlights and one wanted a set for awhile, but we couldn't find a clean set for any for less than $100, which was too much when you count in customs and shipping. He doesn't want a set anymore (not exactly sure why - probably thought it wasn't worth the effort in finding a set), but it made me see how difficult it is to find a set.

The stock headlights I used to have were really yellow but I got lucky in a trade. I'm glad I never got the headlights I had wanted (same as what you're asking) back when I first got my car since I might have gotten rid of the stock ones. Now I love the amber signals and want another set of the '96-'98 coupe taillights to match.
