Help with Rear Speaker Install on 1994 Prelude SI.
Hi all, I just got a pair of Infinity 6.5" Speakers for xmas today. I'm attempting to install them myself, and have already removed the OEM speakers from the vehicle. After the removal of the old ones, I've run into a situation.
The OEM speakers use a 'clip' mechanism to attach the speaker wires to the actual speaker. On the Infinity Speakers, all it asks for are the Positive/Negative wires to be directly connected up to the speaker.
One half of the clip part is connected to the OEM speaker, and the other half connected to the wiring itself.
My question is, How do I connect these speakers up to the OEM wiring? I had very similar speakers to these in my old civic, and the wiring on the civic worked fine. This is a whole different animal though.
If I'm in over my head I can just hook the OEM's back up for the time being and have them professionally installed. I would rather DIY it though if it's not too difficult.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I did a search for this particular issue, but I wasn't able to find any relevant results.

If I understand correctly what you're trying to say, you can either
a) buy a speaker harness like this - http://www.scosche.com/product.../1250
b) cut off the plug and butt connect the factory wiring to the wiring that came in the speaker packaging.

Ahh... I might have to buy one of those harnesses. I don't know if I trust myself enough to splice the existing wire. So I think I'll head out tommorow and pick up a harness for the speaker.
Thanks for the help. Do you think that's somthing I'd be able to pick up locally or is that a pretty 'specialized' piece that would require online ordering? I live in a pretty urban area.

It depends on what shops you have around you. If there's a best buy locally, they should stock them in their install bay.

8520, thanks for the help, me and my buddy installed them on Christmas night they sound really nice (he was pretty handy with his soldering iron so we cut and spliced).
I have a follow up question now about the front speakers. The speakers in the front seem to be a 2 piece unit the 'woofer' part of the speaker is down in the door are, but the tweeter is located up next to the gauge cluster.
This makes it difficult to replace (i think) because most after market speakers are a one piece design with no seperation of the cone & tweeter. Has anyone replaced there OEMs with this similar design and how did you go about it?
Thank again for the help thus far.

8520 is off line right now, so let me chime in...
You can get "component" speakers, like these... http://www.infinitysystems.com...n=USA
Or like these... http://www.eclipse-web.com/point/sp6500.html where the tweeter is removable so it can be mounted in a diff. location.
