Default 6600 vtec point pros and cons

what do you guys think? i havent hit the track yet but i wanted to hear what you think about my vtec point being set that high. i dont make any more power past 7800rpm. thanks

there is no pro's to that, vtec is what gives you the added power you need. y limit yourself?

stock motor and cams my guess

if its a stock engine with stock cams, than it wont do anything to help you. keep the stock ecu with stock vtec crossover point and it will be at its best potential.

if you were running, say a 12.5:1 cp ls-vtec with itr cams than that would be a different story. but your not.

if he had a built motor capable of 9.5rpm or more go ahead but if you loose power after 7800 y put vtec at 6600? you will only slowdown when changing gears going out of vtec.

6800rpm engagement is nice if you spin it to 9k. (ls-vtec with itr cams). thats what my old setup. peak torque was around 6800 so i set vtec there and boy did it come in hard and power never fell off...

is 6600 a magical number or something?

put your car on the dyno and put the crossover where the dyno tells you it needs to be.
