Default b20 tune up Q's.

Here's the deal, so im new to the whole interchangable block's and heads.

I have a b20 w/ a vtec head so when I get a new head gasket Im suppose to get a OEM b20 gasket but dont you have to modify the gasket sence the head has vtec? Correct me if im wrong.

& for the timing belt, would I just use a OEM b20 timing belt?

& what are the odd's a mechanic at lets say Big 10 tires (where im planning on taking it) would know all of this while giving my car a tune up?

& how in the F do I find out if my head is a b16 or b18?
(didnt ask enough question's when I bought the car)

Well, one thing i can probably answer is if that shop is like jiffy lube or something of that sort they probably wont have a clue and end up messing your motor up with wrong t-belts and such. If you know thats the right h/g to use good because i dont. However i dont think any modifcation is needed. As for the t-belt, my speculation is to use the one for your b/c you usually use the cam gear for the head you use when doing mini-me's at least so i would think to use the same t-belt as well. Now for the heads i dont know of a way to tell the difference however i dont think theres much difference except for the b18c5 (hope i dont get flamed for that one) but that my .02.

Oh & what about the ac/ps belts? Are those the same for all b-series motor's?

Hmm.. I need to figure this out before the 2nd.
So pretty much im assuming the t-belt and spark plugs would be for a b16
& the hoses I have changed would need to be for a b20?

wow, this sh&t gets confusing when you dont really know what your doing.
haha.

Think you're right on the money with that (i would get the ac/ps belts for a b20)

i believe thats everything besides the fluids, i hope they dont either. And incase they dont know what a b16 or b20 is you might want to get the vehicles those came out of, im thinking the crv for b20 and as bad as this sounds am not sure of the b16, i know the b17a1 and b18c1-c5, but not the b16 beside the 99-00 si.
