Question about Brake/Lamp Inspection - California
I am going through a salvage process currently with my car since I was hit by a semi. I am located in California so the DMV requires that I have a CHP inspection for vin #s to match and a brake and lamp inspection at a certified shop. I completed the CHP inspection but am about to have the brake and lamp inspection done so that I can finalize everything. My concern however is that my ABS pump/unit has never worked since I purchased the car 3 years ago. The brakes are brand new brembo rotors with factory Honda pads and all my lights on the car work. There are no brake fluid leaks at all and I have pulled the ABS light out of the cluster a long time ago. So my question is, will they fail my car and waste $150 on the inspection if they notice my abs isn't properly functioning? Or should I just fill the reservoir and not say anything? Btw, the ABS unit rarely tries to make that annoying pumping noise so I doubt they would ever notice it right away. Any input is greatly appreciated.
They might say that your ABS light does not come on when you first turn ignition on......
But.....if the shop is lazy....they won't notice this...and give you a passing certificate.
