Default How to wire OEM foglights independently?

As the title states, I just bought some OEM foglights for a 96-00 hatch. Obviously they will only go on when your low beams are on. How would I wire them to be able to have them on at any time...regardless of whether or not my headlights are on?

Thanks for any help.

Just Run A power source that turns them on when u hit the switch then u could have them on when u have no lights on corners

I cant find to much u would just have to wire up a way to make it come on when u hit the switch and not with the lights im guessing that would have to deal with a Relay heres the whole set up on Password JDM you should see Installation Notes: Click here then u will get a 6 page thing to read on lol

yup. there are 5 or 6 aux power supplies in the underdash fusebox. either get a volt meter or a test light. turn on your car and find the plug thats powered by the ignition, or parking lights, etc.

i had mine hooked up to where at least the corners had to be on.

Thats exactly what I want mine to do!!! I think it looks awesome when the parking lights and fog lights are on at the same time w/o the headlights being on!

the link above is one way you can do it.... though i'm sure you can go the other routes that people have suggested...

some have had problems with this and some have not... i guess it depends on whether you have an alarm installed or not...

Thanks...this seems a little more problematic and more involved...but if the other method doesn't work out, I'll look into this

I don't know that I'm understanding this correctly. I don't have any plugs going into the fuse box. There is one going to a relay that was supplied with the kit, one that has a fuse attached to it, one going to the foglight switch, and one one wire brown plug going into a male brown plug located behind the fuse box (but it doesn't go in to the fuse box.

Am I supposed to cut off that stock male brown plug, and solder it onto the foglight harness to replace the female plug? And then plug that into one of the open spots on the fuse box??

if its a brown plug with a blue wire, don't cut it. if i'm not mistaken, the wire runs to your engine bay, and you can use that instead of trying to run a wire through your bay...at least that how it was for my teggy.....

It sounds like you have the newer foglight kit (plugs into the combonation light switch instead of fuse box).

1: take steering colum plastic off.
2: unplug the harness for the fog lights at the headlight switch(both male and female)
3: take the electrical tape off of the "T" portion of the harness between the male&female connectors(you will notice that all of the wires are jumpers between the two connectors but one "red/white" it goes on to the rest of the harness)
4: locate the red/green wire(a jumper) mark with a sharpie where this wire jumps between both connectors and De-pin it from both conectors.(hold on to this.)
5: locate the red/white wire that continues to rest of harness and De-pin this one as well .
6: insert the red/green jumper where you got the red/white one out of .
7: insert the red/white wires where you got the red/green jumper from.
8: plug back into the light switch and harness and check if it functions properly.
9: if so tape back togther and enjoy .. if not ...Im sorry but you did something wrong and now the fun begins
10: replace plastic arround steering colum..

all you have to do is switch 1 wire if you want fogs on with marker lights and high beams, the easier route. unless you must have them on with no other lights.

which wire would I switch? I think that would be fine...I don't think I'll ever really want them on by themselves....or is that exactly what Eran just explained?
