Default gas mileage?

I am heavily considering getting an ep3 and I was looking for gas mileage info. I found 26/30 for the ep3 ouch. But even more interesting, I found 27/33 for the RSX base model. Is this difference accurate and if so, what is the reason?

Also, are the side airbags on the Ep3 head + torso, or just torso? Are they available on all years?

I commend you on doing your research before you buy. As for MPG, the sticker is based on EPA estimates and not that accurate in the real world. Final gearing and engine displacement has a lot to do with fuel economy. That said, I have always managed to do better than the sticker after break-in.

Don't know about the side air bags on the EP3, but I would believe the main purpose of side airbags would be to protect the head.

Getting on the gas a couple times a day I get a combo of city highway at about 28 MPGs pretty steadily.

Strictly highway is about 34...

Strictly city maybe 26.

I have AEM CAI, header, and exhaust.

And the airbags were an option. They make the car weigh about 40 or so pounds more. Mine's got them, they are in the side of the seats. I dunno what they protect though. Probably everything.

I have an injen sr intake, greddy evo 2, and dc header. I do mainly highway driving to school so its easy to get a consistent 34ish. But with city and highway, Id say 32 is good yet. When I do my next oil change at 51k, im doing a new fuel filter plugs and wires too. Hopefully thatll help some.

Changing your plugs at 50K? Those should be laser iridium plugs. About 15 bucks a piece and should last you about 100K...?

What "wires" are you replacing?

Fuel filter? Won't hurt, but in my opinion it's not necessary. Won't affect mileage anyway. Changing the air filter would be a better choice.

Plugs, yes. Even though they could/should last 100k miles, I don't want to find out one of the buggers is seized in there. I changed min out at 50K.

Are you aware what changing the fuel filter consists of?

Ive changed a fuel filter in my integra. Why is it a bitch on an rsx? Air filter is fine.

I get roughly 27-30 mpg normally. I rarely wind it out between shifts.

Unlike the integra, where the fuel filter is located in the engine compartment and is a simple to remove, the rsx's filter is in the fuel tank and is integrated with the whole fuel pickup assembly. So you have to remove the rear seats, open up the fuel tank and remove the entire thing and replace this http://www.theautochannel.com/....html

It wont hurt but after checking the service manual I dont see it listed at all. Call up your local acura and ask them when they recommend replacing it.
