Some bigger ideas?
Well, I've kinda been into Hondas a while now, and I've been thinking of what route I want to ultimately go in the end with my Accord. As you guys know by now, I'm looking for gas mileage and daily driveability. Obviously I'm not doing anything to compromise the passengers or myself or anything that makes the car uncomfortable, which was why I built the suspension the way I did. I didn't really want to go auto because manual was more fun to drive, but automatic means more comfort and remote start. I'm not much into body kits, so I was going to keep it simple and just maybe a lip kit with a spoiler and stuff so that I wouldn't have to worry about scraping and busting things off. So, now the biggest thing I'm debating. Do I want to keep the stock F22B1 and maybe build it up? Or do I want to swap motors? Obviously with it being a Honda there's many swaps out there I can do. The F22B1 IMO is a great motor, makes a decent amount of power, and gets pretty good gas mileage (32 with my stock 15's). Obviously I would like more power, but with more power usually comes less gas mileage. I know these are very reliable motors too. My g/f's dad has a 94 EX like mine with 260k on it and it runs like a top with minimal maintainence. I know for sure the F22B1 with a turbo can make some serious power and be pretty damn reliable and still get decent gas mileage. What do you guys think about H or B series swaps? What are your thoughts?
well i would stay away from b series swaps. they're fine for civics, but pretty gutless when swapped into a heavy accord. As far as the h goes, its really up to you, read up on some of the swap threads, just search for them.
I know for sure that if I did a swap, it would be for the H22. My only concern now is that if the H22 gets better gas mileage than the F22. I remember reading that it doesn't, and after checking a few sources it appears that the F22 gets better gas mileage, which is what I'm going for. I also want daily driveability, so it seems to be sticking with the F22 is going to be my best bet also.
you can have a 5spd with remote start lol.. theres a bypass for it, just don't leave it in gear!
and as for the f22b1, im going to turbo mine now, im peicing together my kit, and you probably will get around the same gas mileage.. just remember you'll be using 93 octane gas for combustion. If you want better gas mileage, get an air intake for the engine to be able to breathe easier, make sure your tires are aligned and inflated correctly, make sure your plugs, wires, cap and rotor are new for good spark, clean injectors, good o2 sensors, and a good cat.
edit thought of more lol
: valve adjustment, new gaskets in the head for oil control.. the list can go on lol.

I know I can run remote start with a 5 speed, but with my luck, there'd be the one time I accidently left it in gear. lol The other thing is if the e-brake cable breaks I can't use it.
I would love to turbo the car too but I want to keep it as reliable as possible. I know about the usual things to get better gas mileage. Obviously a tune up will make things much better. I know the car needs a valve adjustment for sure because they're getting a little clangy and I'm sure it's about due for a tune up here once spring comes and I can work outside again. I know for sure the head gasket is good on the car because it doesn't use any coolant at all and since I changed the oil 1,000 miles ago I haven't noticed the oil dropping AT ALL and it's still as clean as the day I changed it. The motor I have is very solid. The person who had it before me took good care of it, and that's the reason I bought the car.
I'm wasn't sure if I wanted to stick with the F22B1 because usually the VTEC gets a little less gas mileage than the non-turbo, but I'm not so sure that it's true for the Accords since the VTEC setup is much different than from the Civics and Integras. Also, the extra power from the VTEC is nice since the car is a little heavier and I live in a hilly area. I'm pretty sure that I'm just going to stick with the F22B1 and just give it a tune up and get it running nicely.

I've pretty much decided on this car that I'm not going to tear apart the motor simply for the fact that there's no need to. If I decided to do anything major with this motor I will be buying another long block setup and build that up instead. As for mods I won't be doing anything internal, simply for the fact that nothing I can do internally is going to help the car get better gas mileage besides of course adjusting the valves, which IMO isn't really internal work. Basically I'm just looking to get the best gas mileage I can and maybe get a little more power out of the motor without having the sacrifice driveability or gas mileage. I'm pretty sure I'll be sticking with this trans because IIRC, it's got the lowest gearing out of the availing ones I could use which means it's going to get the best gas mileage due to running a lower RPM. I can figure out later which mods I'll be going with after I get my interior and suspension done since as of now my motor has no issues and I can put it off until spring time.
