youd pay 3k, even when its listed a 2k, knowing that the motor needs to be torn down to replace a rod??
OP: unless you're doing the motor work yourself, i'd talk to the seller to deduct costs of the parts and go from there.

That car is already way below book value taking the current repairs into account... I would much rather buy a somewhat stock civic with a blown engine, than one with a swap that the owner swears is in great condition with low mileage that can't be verified.

yeah perfect car for someone who wants to do a swap for himself. I personally wouldnt buy a swapped car because you dont know how well the work was done. 2k is perfect i would even ask 2500 but then again i haven't seen the car in person...looks good though good luck

I personally wouldn't buy it just because I prefer 99-00 front end. Those "racing" seats aren't my preference either, especially for a daily driven vehicle, because they are just not comfortable for longer drives.
But if you are on a budget and you don't mind doing engine work, then by all means...

You could probably sell the seats and the current front end and get some stock seats and a 99-00 front without loosing much ground at all.

And spend even more money... If that's the case, why bother trying to "save" money by buying a vehicle with a blown motor, ugly front end, and ugly seats? You aren't saving money anymore, and it would probably make more sense to spend a bit extra money and buy a running vehicle that isn't ugly.
Common sense, FTW!

I'd buy that for 2k - put 1k into the motor with a diff oil pump and you got yourself a Y8 that'll hold 400whp.
Save for +1 year and you got yourself a 300whp daily.

For that price, and if you know you're way around a civic and feel comfotable with motor work, then go for it.

I bought my Ek hatch for 2400.00 from a dealer
no specials nothing i wouldn't pay more than $1000.00 for it to me that is just a roller nothing more if anything those headlights and seats lower the value
there are a couple ek hatches running complete for 2000.00-2800.00 around here
