you can actually run pure alcohol in this engine because it was cast from high grade iron/titanium alloy mix, and you can probably rev it to about 7800 without hurting it, the numbers in the book just plays it safe

i dont NEED high octane.... i thought that if there would be no problems that it was an easy way to pull a lil more power.... i jus run 93 in it now.
but i take it wit ur reaction its not a good idea to put 100-103 in??

High octane fuel that you get at the pump isn't going to get you more power it is just going to waste your money.

As a general rule of thumb high octane does not make power it supports power. An octane rating is the fuels resistance to detonation. This will not help you to make any power, it will simply support the power by not detonating under high combustion chamber pressures.

Looks like I'm going to fill my gas tank with 2,000,000 octane fuel. Thanks

Only do it with a SOHC VTEC engine! If it's a DOHC VTEC engine then it'll explode when the high-cam engages!

octane is gasolines ability to resist burning...basicaly octane eliminates pinging/detonation found in high compression motors. running a higher octane in a stock motor does pretty much NOTHING and running a lower octane is the only way to hurt the motor

i dont see a PREMIUM FUEL ONLY sticker on pre k series honda

They say this because with the vtec system it extends the intake valves timing introducing more air and fuel into the combustion chambers. More air/fuel in the same size area = more pressure. I run 89 in mine and will continue to run 89 until i boost.

My EM1 has one near the gas cap.
Also, premium where I live is 91, no problems.
