90 accord ex overheating
i just out a new motor in and the car is overheating... checked all connectors, hoses and just put in a new thermostat and i bled the system whats going on with it
how fast does the engine come up to temp and overheat?
Are the cooling fans working?
Drill out the spark plugs and look for coolant in the cylinders?
Big clouds of white smoke out the tailpipe?

assuming you have checked that you have flow due to burp. are you losing fluid at all? if you arent, waterpump, readiator. if you are, inspect heater core. do you have hot air? it could be clogged or leaking. if there is leaking and its not heater core repost. there are a few other tricks to play with.
it comes up to temp then overheats within 20 min there is no leaking no cluds of white smoke coming out, i have heat but not much it turns cold once the heater is on for a little bit but when i turn the blower off and wait a couple of mins ill get heat but it quickly turns cold and the cooling fans are working
Have you checked to see if the cooling fan is cycling in? Trace the wiring from the sensor in the bottom of the radiator and some other temperature sensors to make sure they all got reattached during the swap.
You can short across the plug to the sensor in the bottom of the radiator to test the fan motor itself. If that is working there is a chance that the sensor is bad. When the radiator is up to temperature the sensor should give you a continuous circuit (thus turning the fan on).
If you replaced it during the swap the coolant should be clean. When the engine is cool take a look in the radiator to see if the coolant still looks clean. If it is oily or dirty looking that could be indicative of a head gasket problem which could also be checked by a compression and/or leak down test. I am more inclined to think that the problem is one related to the fan not cutting on though.

im gunna bet you either need to bleed more or somethin is clogged. i would say we can rule out the waterpump because the air is not hot. fans is no way because you have no heat. if it was just a fan relay or wrong wiring you would have too much heat. im willing to bet that heater core is bad. either that or that radiator is bad. how long did the car sit up before and while you swapped the motor?
i think it sat for 6 months... im gonna go ahead and take the water pump off a motor i have laying around i know its new well not that new but atleast it will hold me off till i can afford a new one lol
