My boy ditched his teg, and bought a real car....
best friend Mike/member Lildrgn:
On my recomendation ALONE, without so much as even TEST driving it, he bought a Red '96 Prelude VTEC, 70,000 miles, FLAWLESS. Not even a door ding.
Now we got three 4th gen Prelude's rolling around our places. It's going to start looking reeeeeeally wierd to our neighbors when we all get together.

yea.. it was a good deal...
found it in Bham so had to travel down there to get it...
although its red.. (and I hate red) we are going to change it up a bit and maybe show it off.. (i have not decided)
We already yanked the resonator after owning it maybe an hour.
next:
sound
shave
intake
headers
suspension
(maybe some nitrous)

May I ask how much he payed for it?
I ask because there is a 95 VTEC with 70k selling for $10.900, wondering what other people are paying. Thanks.

I paid 11 for it..
and its in perfect condition
wow you could almost get a 5g for that much
Friends don't let friends race out 5th gens.
well mine was 12 w/ perfect leather.
i was under the impression the specs for the 4g vtec was the same as the 5g.
how exactly is a 4g better or faster than a 5g?
i'm new to the lude scene myself so it's a serious question, as newbie-ish as it may sound, i'm not trying to argue to anything.

and the engine is not as restrictive to mods.. (which sucks, cause I have OBDII as well)
lol i gought my 4g si for 5.5 and its nearly perfect, just a few paint blemishes, then 1100 for a jdm h22a...
i wouldnt pay 10.9... then again i live in kansas, dunno if that matters.

$1100 for a JDM H22A, that you have NO IDEA how many miles are on or how it'sbeen treated. Plus, you still have the H23A tranny with its **** for gearing. Congratulations, you still have an Si with a slightly more powerful motor.
You can try and make yourself feel better if you want.
As for the 5th gen:
Generally speaking, 5th gen ludes will not be anywhere near as fast as a 4th gen VTEC. There are several theories:
OBDII combined with smaller injectors, H22A4 (open deck block), although the car is only slightly heavier (which probably isn't the reason), it doesn't seem to launch as well... I'd venture out on a limb and say worse weight balancing... don't hold me to that or go around quoting me.
I can't wait to get Mikes car to the track... after several runs up the road and interstate, I'd venture to say, even with the heat and humidity out, that it should run 15.0's fairly easy. With a few tricks and wait for a night that isn't so damned MUGGY it should hit high 14's stock. Even with OBDII it feels just like the rocket 4th gen that I'm used to test driving.
On top of all that there is one other thing:
This may come as a surprise to you, but not everyone likes the styling of the 97+... I showed him my 4th gen VTEC, and then took him up the road and back in the 4th gen SE, and he was hooked. After a quick look at the interior of a 5th gen, and realizing it just looks like a '00 Civic, he wanted nothing to do with a 5th gen.
So, my 5th gen boyeeez:
I love your cars. I think it's a very unique look on the outside, and can be made quick. A Prelude is a Prelude is a Prelude, so nothing at all against your car.... but please understand that I love me some 4th gen ludes. And I love them for a reason. I did a lot of research and all the things I wanted in a car pointed at a 94-95 Lude VTEC.
