Default Cometic Gasket Alignment on LSV Build

I purchased a Cometic 85mm Gasket made specifically for a B18 or B20 block with a VTEC head. I decided to test fit the gasket and can see some alignment issues on the head but none on the block. Please take a look at the pics and tell me if the mis-alignment on the head is "normal" for this type of build.

Cometic Label:

Left side of the block which looks correct:

Right side of the block whcih also looks good:

Top of block:

Cylinder Head:

Aftermarket Dowels:

Thanks!

i had the same issue with my g23 motor went to get the top of the block all welded up and matched to the h22a hg its alot of work but has to be done before sleeving can commence

what i usually do is when hg matching problems occur i put the block on my bridgeport and with a black marker mark the areas that need openings done to them i use a ball nose of approx diameter end mill and plunge it in the area very carefully but make sure youre not near any crsh zones this process can take some time

i hope this helped a little and if you have a bridgeport for access try to fix it up

cheers

copper spay is supposed to help seal. it won't help align the gasket with the coolant passages in the head.

Lubo_25 gave you pretty good advice.

Well, you have two choices. The GE LS/VETC gasket that matches the head perfectally and not the block, or the Cometic that matches the block and not the head. Pick one

The thing that gets me is how your block guard and head gasket act in concert to block water from flowing to the head especially on #4.

X2
as to which gasket to use, you are going to get alot of different answers. People like both the LS & Vtec gasket. In my opinion I'd use a Vtec gasket. I've run them on my blocks and have had no leaks.
