Default Automatic transmission (loose solenoid maybe?)

I have an automatic Civic EG ('95) whose shifter, when engaged in Park, does not activate the cluster light box around the "Park" icon. As a result, I cannot take my key out of the ignition because it thinks it's not engaged in Park yet. I read somewhere on here (but now can't find the thread!) about it being a loose solenoid connection, or a need to clean around the connection.

I'd like to try and fix this myself, does anybody have a quick DIY for a) removing the plastic center console where the shift gate is and b) how to clean around the loose solenoid module. Do I just need to tape it solid so it doesn't come loose again?

Thanks guys! This is my first Honda and so far as a daily driver, it's great!

I believe one of the solenoid connections would be in the engine compartment. Not so sure about the interior though

It appears to be directly related to the shifter within the cabin, because when I fiddle around with it, the P will eventually engage. It only really does this when it's below 0, too.

The Honda dealership mechanic recognized the problem as being a connection under the shiftgate/trim.

Any other feedback would be great!

Try putting the shifter in reverse with the engine off. If your reverse lights don't come on you may need to make an adjustment to the shift linkage.
