Default ls vtec bearings?

so i am in the process of building a lsv and i am just wondering what bearings are my best option, i dont want to mess anything up. will LS acl race series hold up to 8.5k+ revs? my motor is fully built other wise, all that is left for me to buy is bearings, studs/bolts (arp), and the head gasket.
is there any other brand i should look into?

theres a lot of debate wether oem bearing are better than acl and vice versa. to me its really all about which clearances. theres a lot of people that have high hp n/a engines out there that are running oem honda bearings. im going with acl duraglide bearings in my lsvtec build only because all the bearing were green in the engine when tore it apart. so i should not have any clearance issues since acl duraglide bearing are equivilant to green oem bearings (havent checked with plastigauge yet). the main advantage with oem bearings is you can play around with different colors to get you optimal clearances. aftermarket bearings do not have this advantage.

ACL race bearings (if clearences are within specs) will be able to hold up to 8.5k+ revs.

ls clearance are way different than vtec ones... so if it had greens, MAYBE thats not the way to go... always check.

im confused. i know gsr bearings are different than ls bearings. or are you trying to say that if im going with a vtec head on a ls block that main bearings and rod bearing clearances change? i dont see that happening. please elaborate.

ls and b16 clearance aren't the same... b17/b16 - LS got different clearances.

start shooting for b16 clearances...

They will hold up just fine but I would get the rods notched and use the gsr bearings they are thinner so less contach so you will make mower power and they will last longer there maid for high reving and I think Oem the best so your clearenses will always be right and guess work and clearence problems so good luck

if your getting arp rodbolts the big ends have to be resized anyway,so have them mic the crank, give them the bearings and the will resize them to whatever clearances you want. just recheck with plasticguage to make sure

from what i know scat rods are the same as eagle and use greens...people like to talk alot without knowing much...when u go with aftermarket rods usually u will need to use a particular bearing...like eagle and scat use green...other brands come honed for different clearances and so require a diff bearing...other thing to keep in mind is that oem honda ls bearings are bi-metal unlike vtec series engines which are tri-metal...a advantage of knowing what u have and what u need is very important when it comes to bearings as its usually why high reving n/a motors fail...in ur case if ur crank has not been touched and ur using scat rods which also run on green honda bearings u should go with acl's since they are tri-metal and have that advantage over the oem ls bearings...if u were using a vtec motor i would def tell u to use oem as i am a big fan and have been proved by ripping apart my motors and others seeing the wear patterns...all in all make sure u check ur clearances regardless of what u go with...but now u have a lil bit of a better idea i hope...

acl work great if clearanced correctly. I took a set of them out of a 81.5 x 87.2 turbo motor making 300-500hp (boost depending) with 10k on them. They looked like brand new.

Scat rods have a smaller bore than Eagles on the big end. Check everything. Plus the side rod clearances are different.
