Default Timing Belt TDC question

Ok do I have to make sure that the Engine is at top Dead Center before I remove the belt, or do I only have to do this when I install it? Im kinda confused about this aspect of the change.

Both, put it at TDC before removal. And make sure its still at TDC before install. Line up timing marks. Better get a Haynes.
