Default Double checking on spoiler compatibility ('96-'98 on an EM1)

I was thinking of putting a spoiler on my '00 Civic Si but wasn't sure about '99-'00 coupe spoiler. Then I found this:

I searched and from what I gathered this is a '96-'98 coupe spoiler. I just wanted to get some clarity on the process and parts needed to mount it on the EM1 with a functioning brake light. Also, is there a part number for an unpainted unit or am I gonna have to buy one and strip it? I know these must seem like dumb questions with obvious answers but I just want to be sure on everything. Thanks, everyone!

The spoiler should mount in the same holes as the 99-00 spoiler. If you don't have a spoiler already, there are two indentations on each side on the inside of the trunk lid that you drill out. Use touch up paint or primer to prevent rust on the exposed metal.

You'll need these:

90307-S03-000 NUT, SPOILER CAP (6MM) x4

To lock down the spoiler.

I can't remember if there's an extra loose harness plug for the spoiler brake light that is clipped under the third brake light. You are also supposed to change out the trunk springs too for the extra weight, but I don't think it's mandatory.

Oh, the spoilers come prepainted.

Wow, thank you very much, very thorough!

But I don't think that any '96-'98s came in Electron Blue Pearl (my color). They apparently came in the other two Si colors but the one color they didn't come in is the color of my car.

Yeah, the Si is the only US model that comes in Electron Blue Pearl. So you won't find it new painted the same color. I think I might have heard that the spoiler was actually discontinued too, but you'd have to call Honda to confirm. They can probably find one color in stock somewhere even if it is discontinued though.

I'd REALLY like some other springs for my trunk since my trunk has hit me and others on the head several times in the past. I think my spoiler was added at the dealer and the springs int he kit were tossed. If I'm correct, the springs might come with the spoiler. It would be easiest to put the springs on with the special tool from Honda.

The plug that the third brake light in the window plugs into plugs into the spoiler harness instead. If you lay upside down in your trunk and look right below the third brake light, you'll see a hole with the plug and socket.

I don't know if you found that info in the post I made before, but there are several different spoilers you might want to check out.

All the spoilers for the US models:

'96-'98 coupe (optional)
'99-'00 coupe (optional)
'96-'98 sedan (optional)
'99-'00 sedan (optional)
'96-'00 CX hatch (standard)
'96-'00 DX hatch (standard)
'96-'00 hatch mid-wing (optional)

Of course the hatch ones won't fit yours though.

Yeah, the information you had posted elsewhere was the most helpful part of my search (with pictures and part numbers) and it made me certain that I want the '96-'98 coupe spoiler. Even if they are discontinued, they shouldn't be all that hard to find in salvage yards or on craigslist, right? They seem to be a lot more common than the '99-'00 spoiler.

So just to recap, Im looking at finding one, painting it, installing it with different springs, and unplugging the window light to plug it into the spoiler, right?

It should fit just fine & its actually a good alternative to the 99-00 Si spoiler. The Si spoiler is too tall for my taste (but I prefer spoilerless)

Yup, just be careful installing the new trunk springs.
