Ok. On my way out to work this morning I checked my oil as routine because I have a D15B with 185+K miles and it burns oil like a mad monkey and leaks a little around the dizzy because of the o ring. I was in an extreme hurry and there was no oil on the stick so I just dumped in 2 quarts, What?? Still no oil. I dumped in another quart and rushed off. Well aparently I over filled it because the light kept flashing at me and I stopped and checked it and it was about an inch and a half above full(an extra quart or so?). Well I assumed that once I got the oil level to normal it would stop freaking flashing at me. Got home from work and dumped out all the oil and just put fresh in(I just changed it about a week and a half ago so the filter is new) The oil light is still flashing and occasionally staying lit for a few seconds and then going out. I'm just wondering what could I have killed here? There doesn't seem to be any new leaks from like a blown seal or anything...

I know out of all you cool people somebody has had a similar experience?

 

my friend had the same problem as you, we were confused why the oil light was blinking and we checked the oil level and everything was good, and than we did a oil change and it still was blinking and than we thought it means the oil pump is done, but than we disconnected the battery and reconnected and the oil lamp stopped flashing at us.. weird but it resolved our problem.

 

Excellent sir! Thank you. I thought this would be some sort of electrical glitch because I could be driving and cut the car off and re start it and it would stop blinking for like 4 or 5 minutes. I'm going to do that tomorrow and see what happens. Thanks again!

no problem, if that doesnt work im guess is ether electrical problem or oil pump...

 

Ok. That did not fix the light. I'm going to buy a sending unit and try that because it is only $5.64 at Advance Auto here.

 

I fixed it. aparently the sludge clogged up the oil pick up tube and screen. I took off the pan and cleaned it out and now i have pressure again w00t.
