where u guys get your lightweight windows at?
like the title says.. what brand and model and what store you get it from? Price? I can only find them on summit but trying to see where else I can get it from.
lexan makes lightweight plexiglass like windows for 92-95 civics....i thought about doing that a while ago, but i heard the plexiglass scratches very easily
I know FAL makes them, but they're not a good idea for street use. A member named Rand0m on ClubCivic.com had them and his car was vandalized shortly after (for the second time I believe - the first time leading to broken windows also). The plastic broke into very sharp shards and I would imagine could easily lead to fatal injuries if the car were involved in an accident.
they are not supposed to break easily.... ANd they aren't supposed to break into little shards either but rather large pieces... someone plz correct my if im wrong but thats what i thought.

They do break into large ... shards.
This was caused when vandals threw rocks through his windows. Notice the difference between the safety glass up front and the Flex-a-lite windows that turned into a frightening mess.

That's not "thin "JDM" ****" I showed above. Those are Made In America Flex-a-lite polymer windows.

Congrats, eBay search showed results for "plastic window"... for Jeeps. Also a few convertible rear windows for various models. And the results for "JDM window"? Well, they were all JDM window visors, a few broadway mirrors, power window kits, OE windows with wipers and some stickers.

Lexan is a polycarbonate. And an eighth of an inch isn't that bad. I didn't find the specifications for how thick FAL windows are.
Who would be buying safety equipment on eBay though? If you're buying no name safety equipment on eBay, you're probably dumb enough to deserve whatever happens to you.

yup leaxan, polycarbonate, plastic...all slang i refer to all of em as that.
that window in the pic looks THIN i can tell you thats not 1/8.......if that was metal that'd defnitly be considered sheet metal. anything over 1/8 is industrial so from the looks of it its pretty thin

I don't know... the coloring of the product and the photo quality makes it pretty difficult for me to judge the width.

if u change the side glass, and rear hatch glass, its much more than 5lbs saved.. I believe FAL's site states 20-25lbs. And if I decide to turn my car into a race car, then the front windshield will be changed too
Thanks for the posts guys. Anyone know of any H-T vendors that sell it?

Aside from the danger involved that was mentioned above, which I was not aware of, they still just scratch too easily like H22Ej1 said, and they don't look as nice as glass (important on a street car to most people).

Looks like rougly 1/8 inch too me. Get out a ruler cuz 1/8 inch is pretty thin as it is. If it was as thin as sheetmetal it would be similar to taping a plastic bag to the window imo.

If you replace all of your glass minus the windscreen, you're looking at MAYBE 50lbs?
Negligible IMO considering the consequences of the lexan windows in an accident. If you had an inspection in GA with lexan windows on a street car you're car would fail.
And it's not just lexan, anything other than OEM or oem quality will fail an inspection.
So let me make this more clear:
Why would you replace your SAFETY glass with plastic?

Probably because he parked so close to a stop sign.
That's illegal where I'm from.
