are these door bars legal??
can't remember whos car this is either, was looking for the thread to see if it came up in there but couldn't find it...
I did some searching and couldn't find any info on if they were or not... for any sanctioned racing particularly NHRA (SFWD) so if someone could chime in that would be great,
I'm going to be building a cage this weekend/next week and rememberd seeing these and thought it would be nice for gettine in and out of a daily driven car but wasn't sure if when i went to the track on the weekend if they would allow them because of possibly being too low but it seems as though that where the bar connects to the main hoop is at shoulder heght...
so yes/no why/why not
Thank You
somewhere i remember them having to be between your elbow and shoulder but i could be wrong.
waiting for a few key people to chime in.

That's absolutely correct. So unless the owner of that car is a midget (no offense to any "little people" on here, no they don't appear to be legal, although that is a bad angle. And if you want ease of ingress/egress, just use a swingout

lol okay, what I was thinking but thought if someone had done it and posted and no one said anything then maybe it was??
yeah I didn't like the angle either (other than getting around the door panel and making for aneasier entrance/exit) but thought the bracing behind it was a decent solution...
Thank You

Screw you and the rest of you "Big people"...J/K. This is correct and it seems like the one lower bar going back to the rear strut brace bar is unnecessary and also missing some D-bars.

lol dorifto...
but yeah I know in the thread there were a couple things wrong with the cage ie. (the main hoop was not one piece, rather the crossbar "A" was welded to the car and the hoop welded to the bar... so i believe he fixed that and he did add soem "D" bars these pictures were not of the completed cage.

this is where the door "should be"... the rulebook puts it in words as "the bar passes halfway between your elbow and shoulder in a normal driving position."
If it varies too much from this; then it isnt legal. it cant be too high, and it cant be too low. it needs to be in the middle.

if you do not wish to run faster then 11.49 then yes they are legal.
you can use an angle(bend) on the door bars,it does not have to be straight
however you must use the bend much farther foward that will help you get in and out a little eaiser

sounds good, yes will def. be running faster than 11.49, what about the "HALO" (not the game
) I've seen them all one piece ie
and where it just follows the main hoop down the A-pillar ie how Tony1 does it

I'm assuming both are legal but the guy doing the bending and welding for me wants to know and I also don't like to ***-u-me...
but for safety purpose which one would be stronger in the event of a rollover??

That is the best post in this thread. Read these or have your "welder" read it. It explains everything you need to know about properly building a drag spec cage

That cage is in my car.
And the door bars probably are not legal in NHRA, since I’m not a midget, but for what I use the car for they are perfect. Several of my friends have had the same set up and have never been hassled at events nor the weekend drags for the bars being to low though. I just really hate climbing in over straight bars. haha, here is a link to my thread.
