Radio temperature issue, SRS gremlin, and rear defroster scratched up.
Got a 96 Accord EX sedan w/5sp and factory cdplayer/radio.
I have a couple issues that I believe are unrelated but both caused by temperature extremes. Recently if I let my car sit overnight (it gets down to about 15 degrees at night) when I start it up the radio will request the code. The odd thing is my battery is fine. Car starts with gusto even if headlights are on and the clock still has the correct time. Enter the radio code and it will work fine and I can even shut off ignition and come back an hour later and it doesn't need the code. Kinda weird and haven't ever seen anything about this....
Second is that my SRS light will be on when its either really hot or really cold. Once the cars been running for a while and internal temp is back to normal the light goes off and stays off. I think I read something a while back about a relay being the common problem. Is there anything I can do to clean up contacts or make it work as is should all the time (I'm a poor college student and don't want to replace it if it works most of the time). And will the airbags go off with the light on?
Third question. Does anyone know of a way to repair rear defrosters? Previous owner scratched mine all to hell and I have multiple breaks in the little black lines. Painstakingly located all the breaks with a voltmeter and painted over them with this gold repair stuff, but it doesn't work worth a damn. Not worth it to me to replace the glass just for the defroster...
Thanks in advance!

Sorry I can't help you with your first two but your third one I can. Go to your nearest auto parts store and ask for a rear window defrost repair kit. They are very simple to use. I think I bought the MotoMaster brand (Canadian Tire). It was the cheapest kit @ $under $10. The stuff I bought wasn't gold, it was a lead/pewter color. I had my rear defrost up and running within an hour. It's all about the prep work to make sure that your repair will fuse with the current lines. I used 400 grit sand paper to scratch the existing grid lines. Cleaned them up with alcohol then applied the repair paint. Two years of snow scraping later and the cheap repair kit has held up.
Did you check your repair paint with a voltmeter after it dried? If it checks out OK then it could be a film of dirt or something between the original grid lines and the repair paint.

Thanks so much ghost! I think i did pretty much everything possible to much it up. I used masking tape as an outline for the paint so some of them probably had glue on them from where I repositioned the tape. I didn't sand anything nor did I use alcohol. I'm gonna have to give this another shot and do it right this time. Mostly I was just curious if that stuff actually worked...sounds like it did for you anyways. Any idea what brand this stuff was, I want to say I used Permatec.
I just found the remnants of the kit that I used. I thought that it was Canadian tire brand but it is from Loctite. Part # 15067, Rear Window Defogger Repair Kit.
