CV shaft failure, please post your experience
does anyone have a broken cv they could send me for some analysis? cage/carrier and *****, etc.
for those people who break CV's often, can you please shortly explain when it happens, and show pictures if you have them of the failures. if no pics, please try to describe where the break occurs.
thank you.

the most common place for them to break is the shaft on the outer cv.
i broke an axle launching my car and forgetting to preload for some reason.. 1st time ive ever not preloaded haha.. 6800rpms, 5psi of boost at the line and on 24.5" slicks and no preloading with just clutch drop = instant snap!
the other time was on a brand new oreily reman. axle and the innner cv joint just exploded halfway through a burnout lol..
thank you.</TD></TR></TABLE>

thanks for all the pictures. could anyone show close ups if you have them of the breaks. like the end of the spline part that sheared off, or the star and cage that split.
thanks

They all broke on either the inner or outer joint. only one happened on a 1-2 shift, the rest broke on the launch.

DSS 5.9's. Two seasons still no issues!!! I did break a stock inner cv joint yoke in my daily driver while trying to do a reverse burnout
