Default 2000 Accord V6 coupe starting issues

I have some intermittent starting issues, when the car is warm,it does not want to start, when it does it feels like it runs on 3 cylinders and when I put it into gear it dies. When I rev it a bit and move 10 feet it sorts itself out and runs fine, other than that it gets 340 miles on a trip and is reliable.

What should I be looking at first?
The car is stock with a 110k miles and according to the dealer the plugs were not changed when they sold me the car so I,m fairly sure they did not change the fuel filter either.

Also,is there a sticky or link to a service manual?

thanks C.

Unique problem? views no answers.
I,m going to need plugs anyway,Goodyear quoted me $25 a plug,is their a less expensive
option? After searching there seems to be a few different ways to go.

Sounds like a warm start. The 6th gen Accord is known to have this issue and theres really no explanation or fix for it.

Last time I had a warm start, I had been driving a while, parked to go to the bank, came back and started the car. The car was hesitant and almost felt like stalling before catching itself. Let it settle itself out and drove 30 minutes to the Metro/Subway and turned off my car to wait for someone. When the person came 5 minutes later...the car would start...choke...die and do this for a while. After the 2nd or third time I just waited a while (10-15 mins) and everything was Ok again.

I had my plugs replaced at 150k miles. Im on 156xxx miles right now on my AV6.

I dunno if I will get flamed for this...but I'm also on a V6 Accord forum... v6p.net check them out. Theres a wealth of information there.

I dunno how many 6th genners are about these forums, but if you need any help let me know. I can help steer you in the right direction and can provide some input to increase reliability on the car.

^^Yep sounds like a got a dose of the warm starts then.
New plugs did not help? it feels like a fuel starvation deal like the filter is clogged, bugs me not knowing what it is.
I bought my car certified at 69k I was in a few times doing the recalls(on Hondas dime )and it is solid apart from once in 2 months is goofs then all fine again....weird

Well the warm starts come and go and are unexplained. I havent had them since I had my plugs replaced...but they arent that frequent to begin with. They're just ghosts in the machine.

Some of the known problems with the gen 6 accord is the tranny that fails unexpectedly, SRS light, and some other various stuff...but the main issue with the car is that the tranny isnt that great. Thats why a bunch of us have additional tranny coolers because the one with the Accord is just a copper tube under the radiator that does nothing really. So additional cooling and an additional filter is what a bunch of us do as piece of mind and preventative maintenance.

Stuff I've done to my Accord are:

130A Honda Odyssey Alternator (cranks more power and is a better unit)
B&M Tranny Cooler
Magnefine inline tranny filter
2004 Acura TL-S 20mm swaybar (to get make the AV6 a little bit more fun to drive)
E46/Audi TT HID Projector retrofit
DIY Intake (mainly because the resonator was blocking the access to the light bulb)

Did you use oem? is there a better place to get plugs? $150 seems steep if I have to diy.
It was not clear what I had to remove to get to them,it cant be harder than a Rx7 and going under the motor, lol.

I had the stealership replace them because I went in for something completely different (a CEL code after a warm start) and a free oil change...so I cant tell you about replacing the plugs. However I'm sure the guys on the AV6 V6p forums can help since 90% of them have the 5th gen Accord. All the stuff I've learned about our cars I've primarily gotten it through this site.

Heres the link to the accord forums...someone on there should be able to help you. Might also learn a lot of quirks and easy fixes for our cars.

Sorry Honda-Tech... I like ya lots...just not a big resource on my car.
