Default Using Google SketchUp to model turbo manifolds

Figured some of you might be interested in this. Google introduced a sketching program a while ago. I've used it for a few different projects and was curious what it could do. The other night I got bored and tried to see what it was actually capable. So I modeled some weld ELs in it. Grabbed a B-series exhaust manifold flange and T3 flange of http://www.t3flange.com. It's not the easiest or greatest program in the world, but works well enough to give you an idea what you can and can't do. What kind of bends might need to be cheated. That kind of idea. For a free program, it's pretty solid.

Wow...that's pretty impressive for a free program....more than I expected.

You can do a lot in the program. Where it lacks is the things like snaps. It's nearly impossible to get the parts to snap into place like I would want to. Also the measuring and angle finder stuff is pretty bleh. Eitherway, free is nice.

Wow, thank you for sharing!

It looks great for a free program, I'll have to give it a shot.

programn is a bitch to use LOL maybe the next version might be cooler.

-hard to rotate parts to exact location/angle
-hard to create componets (id just use it to put some diffrent componets together)
-the arts NEVER line up.

but those are easy fixes we might see with the next version

I used Sketchup to design a loft for my bed about 9 months ago, and had a hell of a time getting it to do simple lumber pieces. I can't imagine trying to do something like this with it... very impressive!

downloading it now... lets so how uncreative I am

EDIT: Just started playing with it, apparently this program is smarter than I am.

how about creating componets to exact spec in emachines, then importing it into google sketchup to see how it works together. since emachines lacks that feature :S

also i like the fact that you can CAD your exact pieace, then order it and have it delivered to you all within the SAME programn

I imported the flanges via sketchup and dxf file. You just need to scale them down after they come in.
