Good find, that was a good video.
But just for measure with some of you, this isn't a AP1 V AP2 video. It's an AP2 with f20 V AP2 with a f22.

The 2.2l AP2's tranny has shorter ratio gearing than the 2.0l AP2 tranny. Through a certain part of the track this caused the car to be a tad slower due to more shifting. Not to mention Tsuchiya's wasn't using the greatest line around the track.

has to do with the def in redlines and tranny gearing.

8 pounds more tq , 9-10 more whp , shorter gearing = faster then your lame *** F20....... Just Kidding

Actually, it is the carrier end caps that are stronger. The housing is the same.

The gear sets in the diff are the same for both ap1 and ap2. The ratio difference is in the secondary reduction gear in the tranny.

from what i remember they are different, but i can't find my service manual to prove it. i could be wrong tho.

the diff gearing is the same in the ap1 and ap2. And the 1st 2nd 3rd gears in the ap2 tranny are shorter then the ones in the ap1. I could be wrong about the trannys but I know 100% that the diff gearing is the same 4.10.
