205 tyres will be spread on a 7.52 rim causing the wheel to stray because of its roundedness at the edges of the contact patch, 215 is the way to go!

BTW is there such a word as roundedness ?????

Assuming fender & suspension clearance, you wouldn't have any trouble fitting a 225 width tire on there.

6.5" wheel, 195 width tire - ~85%
7.5" wheel, 225 width tire - ~85%

Anything from 205 to 235 will be fine.

I've got a tire chart, and if you go with anything wider than a 215 with a 40 series, your gonna need to drop the profile to a 35, cuz the wider you go, the taller the tire gets

Your stock size is 195/55/15. Overall diameter is 23.44 inches. If you go with a 205/40/17, your overall diameter is 23.45 inches. If you go with a 215/40/17, your overall diamter is 23.77 inches. It doesn't affect your ride or speedometer too much. You're only off by .16 inches on either side. Rolling the rear fenders would be a good idea.
