So check this out..
I have a 94 del sol S with a D15B7 motor. When i bought it, i noticed it was leaking oil from the valve cover..
so i got a valve cover gasket kit ( including spark plug/top rubber thingies ), replaced the old gasket, and the massive valve cover oil leak stopped. cool.
2 weeks later i go to change the spark plugs, and the 2nd cylinder from the left side of the motor had a ton of oil in it..
Did i torque the valve cover down too hard? mis-aligned it.. or maybe there are more serious problems?
Don't notice any performance issues, but this bugs me.
Any suggestions appreciated..

Haven't done that.
When taking off the valve cover though, i've noticed a lot of black oil lying around in a pit near the bad cylinder. Dunno if that's normal..
Don't know how to check for bad valve seals.. is it just a matter of taking the valve cover off, or the head?

word.
All i did was reseat the valve cover seal, and tightened the bolts sequentially ( like you would with bolting on a rim ) problem solved.
thats what i get for paying an idiot $20 to do it for me.

I just replaced my 95 Del Sol's valve cover gasket + grommets. #3 cylinder plug tube was leaking oil. I haven't checked to see if its cured yet but when I had the cover off I noticed the tube is part of the rocker arm assy. (bolted on) and probably has lower seals as well.
I also substituted some of that brown aviation shellac type sealer for honda-bond at the valve cover gasket corners. So far that appears to work like a charm (might be messier to clean up later though).

same thing happened here. #3 was bad, #4 was not as bad.. but leaking.
there are lower seals.. but if there is oil in the spark plug hole.. there is nowhere else the stuff can come up from.
Like an idiot, i tore off the honda-bond stuff on my valve cover when reseating it. I figured that it was yet another one of the previous owner's ghetto fixes ( you should see the wiring in the interior, ha ha ha ). whoops. oh well. not leaking from the corners.
Dunno why that crap is on there though. if it won't leak in the bonded area, it will make it's way elsewhere.
you said you replaced your grommets.. you mean spark plug grommets, right?
just checking. there are some thingybops on the top holding the valve cover on so, heh.

got this same prob on my teg. #2 and #3 are leaking from (i think) the tube seals into the spark plug hole. suxors. it sounds from this thread like reseating the valve cover will solve it? i'll try tomorrow and report back.
