What are good alternative tires to the Kumho SPT or Yokohama Es100?? need fast reply
So I basically need new tires and after reading the threads I have come to terms with the Kumho Ecsta SPT unfortunately they are discontinued and no where i looked has them. What would be a good alternative tire to the Ecsta SPT? I'm looking for a tire that is similar in price and in performance.
Also what other alternative is there to a Yokohama ES100?
I was told by the tire shop that both of those were discontinued because they performed poorly, however the threads on here state otherwise. Either way I cant buy those anywhere, what alternatives do you guys recommend? I need help ASAP. thanks guys.
conditions: i live in NOR CAL, bay area, it does get cold but not freezing cold. generally temperatures are between 40-70 F in winter and Up to 100 F in the summer, altho rare, usually its stays between 70-98 F. I also use my car for hard cornering, so i need something that grips well in the dry pavement and is alright in wet conditions. THANKS!

The Kumho Ecsta SPT has NOT been discontinued. Tire shops tell that to people because they want to sell you something they have in stock, which doesn't perform anywhere near as well; it's called "bait and switch".
Order them from the Tire Rack and you'll have them in two business days. You can find the SPT sizes and prices listed on their website here.
And stay away from that tire shop. They're BS'ing you.

i did order from tirerack, and they immediately called me, approx. 35 mins after to tell me that that tire is discontinued the tire and there was no way to get any of them, so i had to cancel my order, and now im stuck looking for alternatives.
any suggestions?
thanks for the feedback.

actually i check, they do have some but not for the size i was looking for, i have 16 inch rota slipstreams for my DC, and i read in the threads its better to have 205/45/16 tires, and tire rack is out of that size and they cant get anymore. I did notice that they have 205/40/16, i also read in the forums about tire size and according to one of those sites, if i get the 205/40 when my speedometer reads 60 i will be going 57.5 miles/hr.
should i go with the 205/40's anyways? thanks for the quick response!

The SPT is not being discontinued. The Tire Rack has had trouble getting enough from Kumho to meet demand, so the Tire Rack sometimes does not carry certain sizes.

I would NOT recommend the 205/40-16. That size is too small for your car.
You can try ordering the SPT in 205/45-16 from Tires-easy.com. Otherwise, I suggest ordering the Fuzion ZRi in 205/45-16 from the Tire Rack. It's pretty darn similar to the SPT, in both performance and price.
