Default 88 Si: How many temperature sender units?

I want to install a new temperature gauge in my 88 CRX Si and I was curious as to how many sender units it has. Does it have just one that the ECU and gauge read or is there one for each? I briefly looked and saw one under the distributor but did not see another. If there is only one, how are people installing additional temperature gauges without messing up the ECU input? I am installing an additional gauge(Auto Meter) because my stock one does not work(I am assuming it is the sender unit). Oh yeah, does anybody know if the Auto Meter sender unit will fit with the supplied adaptors or do I need to buy an additional adapter(what size?)?
Thanks!

the engine temp runs to and from the ecu. tap into it on its way to your stock cluster guage. that way ecu goesnt go ga ga. also theres the intake manifold air temp sensor. i believe it just runs straight to the ecu and bnot back out. you can tap into that if you want. just dont block any signals to the ecu

Yes there are two. The sigle plug connector under the dist is the gauge cluster sender, the dual plug connector is for the ECU.
