1992 Cutoff at 3500 HELP
Here's the deal. 1992 Honda Accord. Cylinder wasn't working. Troubleshooted it. Changed injectors, changed resistor, checked resistance, checked and changed spark plug. Couldn't find the problem. For some reason the injector wasn't spraying. On the way to the garage the injector decides to start working. YAY! No more vibration and smooth performance (for a '92 Accord). Problem: Engine dosen't rev past 3500 RPM. It hits a cutoff and doesn't move past it. I don't know if this could be a problem with the Vtec or the Vtec's solenoid. To be honest I don't even know if the engine has Vtec (I only say this because to my knowledge vtec usually kicks in around 3500. Anyone got any information that can help me out. BTW: It's an automatic, and the car has about 180-190k on it.
Thanks to anyone that can help.

if you pop the hood and look on top of the engine, it should say "V-Tec" on it. i have a 1990 and it never revs past 3000rpm. this is normal for and automatic honda accord. i hear that is the reason honda's last so long. (because of their short rev before they switch gears.)
the car sounds normal to me!
try shifting the car into the " 2 " gear and take it for a spin. if it does'nt go past the 3500rpm you might have a problem.

Depends on throttle load if you press that pedal all the way to the floor its going to shift at higher rpms, its read by the computer. Is it not going past 3500K even at idle not in gear or only whe nits in gear? Vtec is only activated under a certain load speed, throttle position, rpms, etc. you should be able to go all the way to the 6K range without vtec. Dont know whats the reason for why not going past 3500 though.
Its not that it shifts at 3500. The car doesnt go past 3500, no matter the load, or throttle pressure. It's almost as if the 7000-8000 cutoff of the engine is 3500. So at 3500 it just stops giving more gas and wont allow the engine to spin more.
It doesnt go past 3500 in gear, in Neutral or in Park. I have no idea what it could be.
