K20 diff, YS1 cable case, GSR gears...
I'm putting a GSR (S80) gearset into my cable YS1 case. I've got everything together except the diff... I have the compete GSR diff + ring gear, and a 4.2 LS S80 complete diff + ring gear (don't ask... it's not what I wanted). As you know the GSR diff has the tapered roller bearing things and the LS has the ball bearings. I was going to just swap the ring gear over to the S80 diff to avoid clearancing the case and whatnot... I just tried it and *surprise* it doesn't work. I know I should have checked before...
Anyway, now I'll have to get two new diff bearings for the GSR diff I guess. Here's the thing... I have a very very low mileage K20A2 diff with bearings on it that are in great shape (like less than 500 miles low miles). Can I swap the K diff in? I know the diffs are supposed to interchange, but they DO have different part numbers, and looking at them they are ever so slightly different.
