85mm headgasket on a 84.5mm motor?

Default 85mm headgasket on a 84.5mm motor?

is anyone on here running an 85mm golden eagle headgasket on a 84.5mm motor. the place where i buy my parts from only stocks 84mm and 85mm, no 84.5mm and the owner said i'll be fine with an 85 and thats what everybody else gets, but i dont know if hes just trying to make a buck or if its true......

ive run .5mm over headgasket numerous times with out any problems.

ben at importparts.com gets 84.5 mm headgaskets.

you'll be ok, i run an 85mm cometic on an 84.5mm bore. its only a difference of .020"

well right now i have a new golden eagle 84mm but the bore is a HAIR smaller than my sleeve bore......should i run it anyways is that not a good idea

I've run .5mm over without problems, currently running 86mm on an 85.55mm bore.

would running a 84mm head gasket on a 84.5mm bore be a bad idea, the bore diameter of the headgasket is few thou smaller than the sleeve bore.

thats fine

ive always ran 81mm gaskets with 81.5mm bore

well i think that 81mm head gaskets still have a slightly bigger bore than 81.5 but i could be wrong

had to chime in on this one... but from what i was taught, ur H.G. should always be at least .5mm over ur bore.. I learned this from one of Ed Bergenholtz's mechanics.. An since Ed was out there breaking track records I figured that was always the right way, im suprised using a gasket thats smaller than ur bore works out good, I figured it would mess with ur compression or something...
