Default is there such thing as too much sticker weights?

i recently got my tires mounted and balanced. the people who did it left the old sticker weights on it...... is that right? aren't they suppose to take the old sticky weights off?

As long as the weights aren't coming off, they can leave the old ones on, and use that as a starting point in balancing. Did they add new weights as well? It would be unusual for all four tires to balance perfectly without needing to add or remove any weights.

common protocol is to take the old sticky weights off. dismount the old tire, clean the bead (if its aluminum and crusty), replace valvestem, mount new tire, and finally balance. It sounds kinda hack to me if they did not remove the old weights. No two tires will balance exactly the same. If it were me I would take it back and make them re-balance them. Do they vibrate at all at highway speeds?

what he said ^^^^

there is such thing as too much weight on a wheel. you can balance them out but still feel a slight vibration. if there are too many weights. you are SUPPOSED to take all the old weights off when balancing, but what they did was counter balancing

alright... if they left old weights on, theyre dumb for one reason...recycled alum. is hella good money! and 2 they shouldve done it get them balance properly. now they counterbalanced,so go and say they forgot to take off old weights, and rebalance them right!
