well since an h22 in a civic does give you more power...but since its heavier, not only will you have understeer problems, but traction problems too....imho dont do it, just go b series

i have a 95 4dr, and i went with a h22a swap... quick as hell and you will need replace a lot of things just like you will with any swap... but the h22 with a few small mods will give you quite a bit of power and speed like you want

Completely untrue, you can get an adapter plate for the H-series motor to bolt up either a D or B series transmisison.

true but a complete waste, tranny mount wont line up then as easily and that d series tranny stock on that h series motor... the motor will tear that tranny apart in a heart beat... not to mention that tranny wont get him to accelerate as quickly as the h series would... his best bet is to go with the h series tranny also if he gonne do the swap and get rid that d series motor...

thats not true either... had no understeer problem, the motors actually not as much heavier then the d or b series motors as you think it is, and no traction problems at all if get better tires besides stock...

i know a few others that went from a b series in their civics and tegs to an h series and they said they like the h series better...

Not right. If you search you can find the thread where it shows that the weight of the H22 is not much more than a GSR. Lots more torque does=traction problems, but think of it this way, if the H22 is a little heavier and puts more weight over the front wheels this = better traction . Just get some stickier tires if you really are worried about traction problems.

Yes get a B16 tranny. As i said earlier above, D series transmissions are not interchangeable with B series.

yeah, ill admit it, i should have done more research....i think for everyone when theyre swapping out motors from their civics especially d series, we all look into b series motors and h series motors...i even looked into f series motors and thought about mounting an h22 head on the f22 block (dont flame me on that one pls....i know for a fact that those hybrids exist and run and can be done) but i never really looked into k engines though...maybe cuz theyre to expensive.

but anyways, the downright cheapest dohc vtec swap for any civic would have to be a b series....

hope i helped
