vtec solenoid problems

Default vtec solenoid problems

i had my vtec solenoid go out, i replaced it, and it still doesnt work, same problems as before, when it gets to 5500 it does nothing and about 6k the check engine light comes on, resets by shutting the car off and turning it back on, any suggestions?

Check the cel first, if you dont know how there is a post at the top of the civic/del sol (1992-2000) section where this is posted, it help a lot . Sounds like it might be the vtec pressure switch though, good luck!

im pretty sure its not the vtec solenoid then.... check your codes!!!

ok, sorry i took so long to get back, i had a 21 on my old vtec solenoid and after i replaced it, ive still got a 21, and the same problems as before, did i buy a bad solenoid or could there be something else wrong?

I dont know how often that happens, lol. did you notice any build up of anything when you took it out, sludge or anything? Im still guessing the pressure switch though.

nope, except for oil they both looked clean, nothing that looked suspicious

Check the wiring for shorts, has your ecu been worked, the pin may have come out.

Did you reset the ecu after replacement? You may be running in limp mode.

no, i did not reset it and did not think to look for shorts, i wont have time tomorrow but ill check thursday

make sure ur oil is full to, while ur at it
