importing an ek9....
looking into importing an ek9...ive done some research and found hundreds of pages on google. What i didnt find is if there needs to be any modifications to the car to be registered. Im in the northeast so no Cali. restrictions will apply. Also need a reliable reputable place where i can get a car from...Any info will help me a lot. Dont tell me this cant be done bc plenty of people have done it. Anyone who has done it or know of someone doing it that knows how much i am going to pay would also be a help. Thanks again.

Correction - it will be easier to buy one that's already been imported.
The relatively high selling price of legitimately titled and registered CTR's is testament not solely to their rarity, but to the difficulty and expense of actually preparing one legally for US use.
After that, you next have to contend with what will be an absurdly high possibility of theft.

I'd imagine it would. I'd hate to have to wait so long to even see my car in person. Not to mention registration (as you mentioned) and all of the legal hoops you'd have to jump through to even be able to drive it.
Having a car that's so old and slow for that kind of money, plus having to watch for theft so much, being hassled by cops and ricers alike and the occasional difficult to find part (I'm sure it has them), it just doesn't seem worth it. It really doesn't seem like a good car for a 19-year-old in Connecticut to buy (I know there are theft issues there too).
