325/250 on gc+konis
Hey all, the springrates i have on my gcs are 325/250, which is somewhat on the low side i suppose, but it was the stock rates gc had for 96-00 civics.
Anyways, with this kind of springrate, what kind of drop will I be able to achieve, and not totally demolish my konis? (my car is a 00 si) so about 2800 pounds with me in it. Btw Im only looking to lower about 1.5 inches, TOPS 2. I dont really want to scrape everywhere. Will i be safe?
On another note, i noticed that the front shocks require a peice on the bottom of the shock shaft. I think its called the circlet or something. Is this a stock peice that comes from the stock suspension?

You don't have to worry about your Koni's not handling the spring rates unless you get really high, like 550 lb/in and higher.
You don't need to worry about drop, either. I was dropped 3"+ with my GC's and never had a problem. My Konis have over 150K on them and still work great.
The piece on the bottom, are you talking about the snap ring (aka circlip) that goes in one of the grooves on the shock body? Or are you talking about the brake line bracket that you're supposed to remove from your stock shocks and install on the Koni shocks?

so my spring rates are good? I dont have to worry about bottoming/topping out?
i thought they seemed kinda low since everybody seems to be running 400lb/in ++

well yeah you might have problems bottoming out if you ride really low with spring rates that low.
But you were originally asking about what drop can the Koni's safely handle, and the answer is pretty much anything.

Ok no problem then, I wasnt planning to ride too low anyways. And with my low spring rates it should be a smooth ride.
