How difficult is it to import a complete car from overseas (above locations)? Would one just contact an importer (Motorex or there was one from Houston I believe on H-T here), then try to find a used one overseas? Are used cars advertised abundantly like they are here in the US (internet, newspapers)?

Thing is, I am looking into a RHD '90 Civic SiR from California, love that body style, always have, but my heart is set on DC2s. I think I would enjoy an imported DC2 (GS-R/ITR/SiR-G/whatever) more than the EF.

 

its not very hard to import one in. if you have the cash.

reason people dont start importing it in left and right is all the taxes and costs involved, and paperwork with the DMV and meeting emissions.

dc2r will be a different story, as it would not pass crash tests.

dc5r, you can import without worrying about the crash tests.

 

can you explain why the dc2r would not pass crash requirements and the dc5r will?

 

dc2r the jdm front end has a very little bumper support and it would crumple under 5 mph crashings.

the dc5r has the same support as found in the US (same front end).

and therefore would pass.
