I got a noisy front left strut on a 01 accord v4. It is a squeaky noise.
I went to a honda dealer and they asked me to spray silicone lubricant, which does temporarily quieten it but comes back, especially in the cold weather.

is there any other fixes to this problem other than replacing the whole strut?
is it possible to replace the seals?
if the whole strut needs to be done, can only one strut be done or both?
also is it possible to replace the strut at home, without special tools?

you must change them in pairs. if it is noisy and then temporarily quuieted by silicon it is not the strut itself, probably some part of the assembly that is worn out (rubber) and needs replacement. take it apart, check all parts and you may only need a small rubber spring seat or something similar. i just replaced all 4 with kyb gr2's, total 240 plus $90 wheel alignment.
